국제학교 한국어 교육과정 개발 기초 연구-베트남 소재 S 국제학교를 중심으로-

The Study on the Preliminary Development of a Korean Language Curriculum for International Schools: Focusingon S International School in Vietnam

본 연구는 국제 교육과정 적용 예정인 베트남 소재 국제학교의 한국어 교육 현황을 파악하고, 효과적인 교육과정 개발을 위한 기초 자료를 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 최근 국제학교에서 한국어 학습 수요가 급증하고 있으나, 국제 교육과정의 특수성과 학습자 특성을 고려한 체계적인 교육과정은 미비하다. 이에 본 연구는 베트남 소재 S 국제학교의 한국어 학습자 77명을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하고, 현직 교사들과의 심층 면담을 통해 교육과정의 현황과 요구를 분석했다. 분석 결과, 국제학교 한국어 교육과정 개발에는 국제 커리큘럼 연계, 수준별 언어 매개 전략, 멀티미디어 활용, 실용·학문 목적 통합, 단계적 평가체계 구축이 균형 있게 반영될 필요가 있음을 확인했다. 특히 교재 개발에 있어 멀티미디어 자료의 활용과 실용·학술 언어의 균형이 요구되며, 학습자의 문화적 관심과 학문적 목표를 동시에 충족시킬 수 있는 단계적 평가 체계 방안 수립이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 국제학교의 한국어 교육 현황을 종합적으로 분석하고, 국제 교육과정과 연계된 교육과정 개발의 실제적 방향을 제시했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

This study aims to examine Korean language education at an international school in Vietnam planning to implement international curricula, and to provide foundational data for effective curriculum development. Although there has been a growing demand for Korean language education in international schools, systematic curricula considering the unique characteristics of international education and learner needs remain inadequate. This study surveyed 77 Korean language learners at S International School in Vietnam and interviewed instructors to analyze curricular needs and current practices. The analysis suggests that the development of Korean language curricula for international schools should incorporate a balanced integration of international curriculum alignment, level-specific language mediation strategies, multimedia utilization, integration of practical and academic purposes, and a structured, phased assessment system. In particular, the findings underscore the need for teaching materials that effectively leverage multimedia resources while maintaining a balance between practical and academic language. Further more, it is essential to establish a phased assessment framework that addresses both learners’ cultural interests and academic goals. This study is significant in that it comprehensively analyzes Korean language education in international schools and provides practical directions for curriculum development aligned with international educational frameworks.
