Analysis of Webtoon Genres and the Enneagram Personality Types of Main Characters

본 연구는 웹툰 주인공의 성격적 특성을 에니어그램(Enneagram) 성격유형 이론에 기반하여 분석하고, 장르별로 나타나는 성격유형의 유사성과 차별성을 탐색함으로써 그 심리적 의미를 해석하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 웹툰 주인공의 행동, 사고, 감정 표현을 중심으로 에니어그램의 중심 유형과 세부 유형을 도출하였으며, 이를 통해 웹툰 장르에 따라 주인공이 나타내는 성격유형의 경향성과 특성을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 웹툰의 장르에 따라 주인공의 성격유형이 일정한 경향성을 보이는 것으로 나타났으며, 장르 간에는 공통적으로 나타나는 성격유형과 차별화된 성격유형이 존재함을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 웹툰 콘텐츠 제작 시 인물 구성의 심리적 설계에 있어 장르적 특성과 성격유형 간의 연관성을 고려할 필요성을 시사하며, 향후 웹툰 서사 및 캐릭터 개발에 있어 실증적 기반을 제공할 수 있다.

This study aims to analyze the personality traits of webtoon protagonists based on the Enneagram personality type theory and to interpret the psychological significance of the similarities and differences in personality types across genres. Focusing on the protagonists’ behaviors, thoughts, and emotional expressions, the study identifies both core and subtype Enneagram types. Through this analysis, it explores the tendencies and characteristics of personality types as they appear in different webtoon genres. The results indicate that protagonists exhibit specific personality patterns depending on the genre, and that certain personality types are commonly shared across genres while others are distinct. These findings suggest the importance of considering the relationship between genre characteristics and personality types in the psychological design of characters during webtoon content creation. Furthermore, the study provides an empirical foundation for future narrative development and character design in webtoons.
