Clinical Application of Fascia Chuna Therapy in the Korean Medicine Treatment of Lumbar Compression Fractures: Two Case Reports

Objectives This case report aims to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of complex Korean medicine treatments, including fascia chuna therapy, in two patients with lumbar compression fractures caused by trauma and osteoporosis. Methods Two patients received complex Korean medicine treatments composed of herbal medicine, acupuncture, cupping, and fascia chuna therapy. Clinical outcomes were assessed using the Range of Motion(ROM), Numeric Rating Scale(NRS), Oswestry Disability Index(ODI), Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire(RMDQ), EuroQol-Visual Analogue Scale(EQ-VAS), Korean Activities of Daily Living(K-ADL), Korean version of the Quality of life Scale in old age(K-CASP-16), Patient Global Impression of Change(PGIC), and radiological examinations. Results Following treatment, both patients demonstrated improvements across most clinical indices, including reduced pain levels, increased ROM, enhanced activ-ities of daily living, and functional recovery, with no adverse events reported. Conclusions This case report suggests that complex Korean medicine treatments incorporating fascia chuna therapy, may be beneficial in alleviating pain and improving function in patients with lumbar compression fractures.
