Exploration of Variables Affecting the Happiness of Elementary School Students

이 연구는 초등학생의 행복감에 영향을 미치는 다양한 변인(개인 내적 변인, 관계적 변인, 학교 환경 및 학업 변인, 일상 활동 및 생활 습관 요인, 지역사회 및 환경 변인) 등 탐색하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 이 연구의 주요한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 아동의 행복감에 큰 영향을 미치는 요인은 ‘학교 선호도’와 ‘자아존중감’인 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 개인의 심리적 변인 외에도 ‘신체적 자아상’, ‘안전에 대한 인식’, ‘교사와의 관계’가 행복의 핵심 예측 변인으로 확인되었다. 셋째, ‘진로성숙도’는 아동의 행복감에 통계적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 이는 초등학생 시기에는 진로에 대한 구체적인 준비나 결정 차원보다는, 현재의 학교생활에 대한 만족과 긍정적 자아상 형성이 행복감에 더 즉각적이고 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 보인다. 넷째, ‘그릿(Grit)’과 일부 ‘미래희망모습’은 행복감에 유의한 영향을 미치지 못했다. 이상의 주요한 연구결과를 통한 실과 교육으로의 실질적 적용을 위한 제언은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 아동의 행복 증진을 위해 ‘학교 선호도’와 ‘교사 관계’를 증진할 수 있는 관계 지향적인 수업 설계가 필요하다. 둘째, 실과 교육과정의 ‘인간 발달과 주도적 삶’ 영역을 내실화하여 아동의 ‘자아존중감’ 및 ‘신체적 자아상’을 강화해야 한다. 셋째, 실과 교과의 진로 교육은 아동의 행복 증진을 위한 진로 교육은 실과 교과 내 다른 영역 및 타 교과와의 적극적인 연계와 통합을 통해 이루어져야 한다. 넷째, 초등학생의 진로 교육은 ‘현재의 행복’과 ‘미래의 긍정적 기대’를 연결하는 방향으로 그 중요성이 강조되어야 한다.

This study explores various factors influencing the happiness of elementary school students, including individual internal variables, relational variables, school and academic environmental variables, daily activities and lifestyle habits, and community and environmental factors. First, school preference and self-esteem were found to be the factors that have a significant impact on children's happiness. Second, alongside individual psychological variables, physical self-image, perception of safety, and relationships with teachers were identified as key predictors of happiness. Third, career maturity had no statistically significant effect on children's happiness. This suggests that for elementary school students, being satisfied with their school life and developing a positive self-image affect their happiness more immediately and directly than making specific preparations or decisions regarding their future careers. Fourth, Grit and certain aspects of the “desired future self” did not significantly impact happiness. Based on these findings, suggestions for practical application within practical arts education are as follows: First, to promote children's happiness, it is necessary to implement relationship-oriented instructional designs capable of enhancing school preference and teacher-student relationships. Second, the Human Development and Self-Directed Life domain of the practical arts curriculum should be substantiated to strengthen children’s self-esteem and physical self-image. Third, career education within the practical arts curriculum, aimed at enhancing children's happiness, must be implemented through active linkage and integration with other domains of the subject and other disciplines. Fourth, it is essential to emphasize career education for elementary students in a way that connects “current happiness” with “positive future expectations.”
