Objective: This study aims to investigate the impact of family health on interpersonal ability in college students and the sequential mediating effects of self-differentiation and stress coping styles. Methods: This study used self-report questionnaires from 333 college students. The data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 and PROCESS Macro v.4.2. Results: First, family health had a positive effect on interpersonal ability. Second, self-differentiation significantly mediated the rela-tionship between family health and interpersonal ability. Third, both active and passive stress coping styles significantly mediated the relationship between family health and interpersonal ability. Fourth, a sequential mediating effect resulted through self-differentiation and active stress coping style, but not through passive stress coping style. Conclusions: This study is meaningful in that it identifies key factors affecting university students’ interpersonal ability and provides a foundation for psychological interventions for students experiencing interpersonal difficulties.
