포스트휴먼 질적연구방법으로서 코드북-만들기: 행위자-네트워크 이론과 함께하는 방법론적 성찰

Codebook-Making as a Posthuman Research Method: A Methodological Reflection with Actor-Network Theory

본 연구는 지난 일 년간 수행된 인공지능 디지털교과서(AIDT) 정책 도입에 대한 공동연구과정을 행위자-네트워크 이론을 통해 재구성하고, ‘코드북’이 포스트휴먼 질적자료분석 실천에서 어떻게 구성되고 작동하였는지를 탐색하였다. 전통적으로 코드북은 연구자가 수집된 질적자료를 체계적으로 분석하기 위해 사용하는 도구로 여겨졌으나, 본 연구는 이를 인간과 비인간, 기술과 문서, 감각과 통찰이 얽히는 연구 실천 속에서 끊임없이 상호-구성되는 하나의 행위자임을 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위해, 공동연구팀 내 협업 기록과 회의록, 자료 코딩 및 분석 결과, 해석 내용 등 연구 과정 전반을 거쳐 생성된 자료들을 코드북을 중심으로 분석하였다. 포스트휴머니즘 관점에서 코드북은 단순한 분석 도구나 고정된 코딩 가이드라인이 아니라, 포스트휴먼 질적자료분석 실천에 참여하기 위해 모든 행위자가 반드시 거쳐야만 하는 ‘필수통과지점’으로 시공간을 넘나들며 공동연구자들 간의 협력과 긴장을 만들어내는 매개자이자 새로운 방법론적 발명과 실험을 이루어 내는 장으로 작동하였다. 이 과정에서 인간 연구자 역시 해석의 권위를 지닌 고정된 주체가 아니라, 코드북과 질적자료, 또 이론과 함께 사유하고, 변형되고, 재구성되는 포스트휴머니즘적 되어-감(becoming)을 경험하였다. 본 연구는 질적연구가 인간중심적 해석학을 넘어, 연구자·도구·세계가 상호-구성되는 과정임을 시사하며, 질적연구방법을 수행적·존재론적 실천으로 확장하는 방향을 제안한다.

This study reconstructs a year-long collaborative research process on the introduction of the Artificial Intelligence Digital Textbook (AIDT) policy through Actor-Network Theory (ANT), examining how the codebook was constituted and operated within posthuman qualitative data analysis. While conventionally treated as a technical instrument for organizing qualitative data, the codebook is re-theorized here as an actor co-produced through research practices in which humans and non-humans, technologies and documents, and affect and interpretation are entangled. Drawing on collaborative records, meeting minutes, coding outputs, and analytic memos, the analysis positions the codebook as an obligatory passage point that mediated collaboration, tension, and methodological experimentation across the research process. In doing so, human researchers did not function as fixed interpretive authorities but underwent a posthuman becoming, thinking with and being transformed alongside the codebook, data, and theory. This study argues that qualitative research exceeds human-centered hermeneutics and should be understood as a performative and ontological practice of co-constitution among researchers, tools, and the world.
