공동 주체로서 교사들의 공동 주도성 실천 경험에 대한 해석현상학적 분석

An Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis of Teachers’ Experiences of practicing co-agency

학생들이 미래 사회를 성공적으로 살아가는 데 가장 필요한 역량 중 하나로 학생 주도성이 강조되면서 학생 주도성 함양을 위해 많은 노력이 이루어지고 있다. 특히 학생 주도성 함양을 위한 교사의 공동 주도성이 강조되고 있다. 본 연구는 학생 주도성 함양을 위한 교사들의 공동 주도성 경험에 관한 연구로, 학교 현장에서 교사들이 학생 주도성 함양을 위해 어떠한 노력을 기울이고 있는지, 교사들의 노력과 실천이 의미하는 바는 무엇인지를 탐구하였다. 이를 위해 해석현상학적 분석(IPA)을 활용하여 교사들의 공동 주도성 경험과 그 의미를 연구하였다. 연구 결과 교사들의 공동 주도성 경험은 학습 안내, 임파워링, 협력적 설계, 파트너십의 형태로 나타났고, 교사들이 학생들의 참여와 협력을 제고하는 방식으로 교육 활동을 설계하는 동시에 참여자이자 협력적 공동체의 일원이 되어 학생들과 교육 활동을 공동으로 만들어가기 위해 노력함을 의미하였다. 연구 결과를 토대로 교사들이 공동 주도성을 발휘하기 위해서는 무엇보다도 다양한 교육 주체들의 협력적 교육 실천을 지원하는 교육 구조와 문화의 구축이 필요함을 논의하였다.

As student agency has been considered as a key competency for successfully living in the future society, various efforts have been made to foster student agency. In particular, teachers’ co-agency has been emphasized. This study explored teachers’ experiences as co-agents in fostering student agency, focusing on how teachers in schools strive to foster student agency, what their efforts signify, and what it means for teachers to become co-agents. Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) was employed to investigate teachers’ experiences as co-agents and the meanings of the experiences. The findings revealed that teachers’ co-agency was manifested in the forms of instructional guidance, empowering, collaborative design, and partnership. These experiences indicated that teachers designed educational activities that enabled students’ participation and collaboration, engaged in them as participants and the members of collaborative community, and strived to co-create educational practices with students. Based on these findings, the study discussed that educational structures and cultures that orient toward relational and collaborative educational practices among various educational agents are needed to foster teachers’ co-agency in fostering student agency.
