어머니 서사의 함정과 대중 감정의 정치학:드라마 <폭싹 속았수다>의 가족 재현 비판을 중심으로

The Trap of the Mother Narrative and the Politics of Popular Emotion: Focusing on the Critique of Family Representation in the Drama Thank You for Your Hard Work

본고는 한국의 대중서사, 특히 텔레비전 드라마에서 반복적으로 나타나는 어머니 서사가 어떻게 가족주의 담론과 결합하여 특정한 감정 정치적 효과를 발생시키는지를 분석하였다. 드라마 <폭싹 속았수다>를 중심으로 한 본 논문은 가족 드라마로서의 외양을 띠고 있지만, 실제로는 가족주의 이데올로기를 내면화하고 정당화하는 강력한 감정적 기제로 작동함을 비판적으로 고찰하였다. 연구 결과, 한국적 감정 서사에서 어머니의 이미지는 희생과 무조건적 사랑이라는 감정적 표상을 통해 사회적 규범과 윤리적 가치를 내면화하게 만드는 역할을 하고 있다. 이것은 개인의 자발적 정서 표현이라기보다는 특정한 사회적 질서에 복속된 감정 규범으로 기능함을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 본고는 드라마에서 구현되는 감정 서사가 젠더와 계급 권력 관계를 은폐하는 효과를 가져오며, 시청자의 비판적 사고를 유예시키는 방식으로 작동함을 밝혀냈다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 한국 대중서사의 어머니 중심적 감정 구조가 감동을 통한 감정 정치로서 기능하고 있음을 드러내고, 향후 한국의 문화 콘텐츠에서 가족주의적 서사의 비판적 독해가 필요함을 제안한다.

This study analyzes how maternal narratives, frequently appearing in Korean popular narratives, particularly television dramas, combine with familial ideology to generate specific emotional political effects. Focusing on the drama , this paper critically examines how the drama, despite presenting itself as a family-oriented narrative, functions as a powerful emotional mechanism internalizing and justifying familial ideologies. The research finds that the maternal image in Korean emotional narratives reinforces social norms and ethical values through emotional representations of sacrifice and unconditional love. Rather than representing spontaneous emotional expressions, these narratives serve as emotional norms subordinated to specific social orders. Additionally, the study reveals that the emotional narratives depicted in dramas mask gender and class power relations, suspending viewers’ critical thinking. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that mother-centered emotional structures in Korean popular narratives function as emotional politics through elicited emotions, and suggests a critical reading of familial narratives in future Korean cultural content.
