경계에서의 성장 : 수련 상담사의 상담 수련 경험에 대한 해석학적 현상학 연구

Growth at the Boundary: An Interpretative Phenomenological Study of Counselors-in-Training’s Professional Training Experiences

본 연구는 석사학위를 취득하였으나 아직 학회 자격증을 취득하지 않은 수련 상담사가 수련 과정에서 경험하는 의미와 본질을 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 상담 관련 석사학위를 보유하고 6개월 이상의 수련 경험이 있으며 자격증 미취득 상태인 수련 상담사 4명을 의도적으로 참여자로 선정하였다. 자료는 70~120분의 일대일 심층 면담을 통해 수집하였고, 해석현상학적 분석(Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis, IPA) 절차에 따라 분석하였다. 그 결과 37개의 주제, 15개의 상위 주제, 5개의 주제 클러스터가 도출되었다. 도출된 클러스터는 석사학위 취득 이후부터 자격증 취득 이전까지의 과도기에 나타나는 ‘경계에서의 경험’을 드러내며, ‘시작’, ‘부침’, ‘혼돈’, ‘몸부림’, ‘성장’의 다섯 단계로 구조화되었다. 이러한 결과는 수련 상담사가 불확실성과 혼란 속에서도 자기 성찰과 긍정적 대처를 통해 정체성과 전문성을 형성해 가는 과정을 보여준다. 연구 결과를 통해 상담 수련 체계의 보완과 사회복지 증진을 위한 상담사 양성의 실천적 지원 방안에 대한 시사점을 논의하였다.

This study explored the meaning and essence of the lived experiences of counselors-in-training who had completed a master’s degree but have not yet obtained a professional certification. Four counselors who have counseling-related master’s degree, have more than six months of training experience but has not yet acquired a certification from a counseling association were recruited through purposive sampling. Data were collected through one-on-one in-depth interviews for 70-120 minutes and analyzed by Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The analysis identified 37 themes, 15 superordinate themes and five theme clusters. These clusters revealed the essence of the lived experiences during the transitional period and were structuralized into five stages: Beginning, Turbulence, Confusion, Struggling and Growth. The findings illustrated how counselors-in-training develop their professional identity and competence through self-reflection and coping efforts amid uncertainty and confusion. Implications for complementing counselor training systems and enhancing practical support for counselors-in-training were discussed.
