｢드래곤 길들이기｣ 애니메이션에 나타난 동물 타자성의 의미 탐색 및 영유아 교육적 함의

Exploring the Meaning of Animal Alterity in the Animation ｢How to Train Your Dragon｣ and Its Educational Implications for Early Childhood

연구목적: 본 연구는 ｢드래곤 길들이기｣ 애니메이션 속 동물 타자성의 의미를 밝혀 그것이 영유아 교육에 의미하는 바를 밝히고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구방법: 분석 대상은 ｢드래곤 길들이기｣애니메이션이고, 방법은 질적연구방법으로 영상을 여러 번 반복해서 보면서 영상을 분석한 뒤 내용분석과 대화분석을 실시하였다. 또한 포스트휴머니즘 철학에 기반한 주제를 다루어 생태적 행동연구를 기본으로, 구체적 사례인 인간과 동물의 관계가 잘 드러나는 현상을 선별하여 현상적으로 해석하였다. 동물의 타자성을 유사 그룹으로 묶어 세 개의 주제로 구분하였고, 주제별로 내용을 분석하고 해석하였다. 연구결과: ｢드래곤 길들이기｣ 애니메이션 속 동물 타자성은 크게 세 부분으로 ‘다름의 절대적 타자성’, ‘같음의 상대적 타자성’, ‘하나됨의 상생적 타자성’이 드러났다. 이는 영유아 교육에서 교육의 도구로 동물을 사용하지 않고, 동물과 일상에서 소통을 연습하고, 포스트휴머니즘 생태교육으로 시선이 변화해야 함을 보여주었다. 연구결론: ｢드래곤 길들이기｣ 속 동물의 타자성은 인간과 다름과 같음을 넘는다. 이것은 차이를 만들어 하나 되는 존재의 타자성을 드러낸다. 영유아 교육에서도 지금 교육과정을 바꾸어 동물과 상호작용하고, 동물을 구체적으로 경험하는 교육과정으로 변화되어야 함을 시사한다.

Purpose:The purpose of this study is to elucidate the meaning of animal alterity in the animated film ｢How to Train Your Dragon｣ and to clarify its implications for early childhood education. Methods: The subject of analysis is the animated film ｢How to Train Your Dragon｣. The methodology employed qualitative research methods, including visual analysis, content analysis, and dialogue analysis. Additionally, ecological action research grounded in posthumanist philosophy was conducted, and specific phenomena were selected for phenomenological interpretation. The alterity of animals was categorized into three themes, and the implications for early childhood education were analyzed and interpreted for each theme. Results:The animal alterity in the animation ｢How to Train Your Dragon｣ was revealed in three major aspects: ‘the absolute alterity of difference’, ‘the relative alterity of similarity’, and ‘the symbiotic alterity of oneness’. This demonstrated that in early childhood education, animals should not be used as educational tools, children should practice communicating with animals in daily life, and perspectives must shift toward post-humanist ecological education. Conclusion: The alterity of animals in ｢How to Train Your Dragon｣ transcends mere difference from humans. It reveals the alterity of beings that create difference yet become one. This suggests that early childhood education must also transform its current curriculum into one that involves interacting with animals and providing concrete experiences with them.
