한문 단편소설의 현실문제 표현방식 연구 - <박효랑전(朴孝娘傳)>과 <피생명몽록(皮生冥夢錄)>을 중심으로

A Study on the Expression of Real-Life Issues in Sino-korean Short Stories : Focusing on <The Story of Park Hyo-yeong> and <Pi-saeng Myong-mong-rok>

한문 단편소설은 당시 현실문제를 적시하는 데 매우 중요한 형식이다. 짧은 형식은 삶의 단편적인 측면을 드러내는 데 유리하다. <박효랑전(朴孝娘傳)>과 <피생명몽록(皮生冥夢錄)>은 효를 중시하는 조선 사회에서 산송과 장례의 문제를 놓고 벌어지는 사회적 부조리와 갈등의 문제를 표면으로 드러낸 작품이다. 이러한 문제는 당대의 현실을 핍진하게 반영하였으나, 독자의 호기심을 끌 정도의 매력적인 주제와는 거리가 멀다. 오히려 두 작품은 전(傳)과 록(錄)이라는 문체를 통해 사실성을 확보하여 당시 현실문제를 담론화하고자 하였다. 현실 문제의 저변에는 임진왜란으로 피폐해진 사회에서 권력이 질서를 유린하는 세태가 배경을 이루고 있다. 이러한 조선시대의 사회상을 드러내기 위해 다른 작품에서 잘 차용하지 않는 상례의 담론을 차용한 것이 두 작품의 특징이기도 하다.

The Sino-korean short story is a crucial format for addressing the realities of the time. Its short form lends itself to revealing the fragmented aspects of life. “The Story of Park Hyo-yeong” (朴孝娘傳) and “Pi-saeng Myeong-mong rok” (皮生冥夢錄) surface the absurdities and conflicts of the time, arising from the issues of funerals and burials in a society that valued filial piety. These are far from compelling themes that would pique readers' curiosity. Rather, both works, through the literary styles of “傳” (tradition) and “錄” (record), secure authenticity and attempt to address the real-world issues of the time. Underlying these issues is a society devastated by the Imjin War and a world where power tramples upon order. To reveal this aspect of Joseon society, they employ discourses on common rites and customs, a topic rarely employed in other works, a defining characteristic of both works.
