Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the effects of positive psychological capital, grit, and growth mindset on academic engagement among dental hygiene students and to provide foundational data for developing strategies to enhance their academic participation. Methods: The participants were 178 dental hygiene students. Data were analyzed through the SPSS 20.0 program using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The factors that influenced dental hygiene students’ academic engagement were positive psychological capital (β=0.398, p<0.001), grit (β=0.369, p<0.001), and satisfaction of major (β=-0.205, p<0.001). The total explanatory power was 49.8%. Conclusions: Positive psychological capital, grit and satisfaction with the major were influencing factors in dental hygiene students’ academic engagement. Therefore, enhancing academic engagement among dental hygiene students will require the development and active implementation of a systematic dental hygiene education program grounded in positive psychological capital and grit.
