Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of water and major nutrient intake on the number of remaining teeth among older adults. Methods: This study utilized data from the first year of the 9th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and included 1,174 adults aged 65 years or older with complete information on water and major nutrient intake in the analysis. Results: Higher water intake was associated with an increased number of remaining teeth (p<.001), and significant differences were observed for calcium, dietary fiber, protein, and fat intake in univariate analyses (p<.005). However, after adjustment for sociodemographic characteristics, only water intake and dietary fiber intake remained significantly and positively associated with the number of remaining teeth (p<.05). Conclusions: To improve the oral health of older adults, oral health education and policy interventions focusing on sufficient water and nutrient intake are warranted.
