코로나19 이후 원격교육(사이버대학)의 인식 변화에 관한 연구 - 텍스트 마이닝을 통한 동향 분석

A Study on Changing Perceptions of Distance Education (Cyber Universities) in the Post-COVID-19 Era : Trend Analysis through Text Mining

본 연구는 COVID-19 팬데믹으로 촉발된 고등교육 환경의 급격한 변화 속에서, 사이버대학에 대한 사회적 인식 변화의 구조와 동향을 2020년 1월부터 2025년 11월까지의 언론 담론을 대상으로 텍스트 마이닝(Text Mining) 기법을 활용하여 실증적으로 분석하였다. 연구 목적은 사이버대학이 더 이상 기존 고등교육 체제의 보조적 역할에 머무르지 않고, 기술 수용과 교육 접근성 확대라는 시대적 요구를 충족하며 국가 교육 인프라로 전환하고 있음을 규명하는 것이다. LDA 토픽 모델링 분석 결과, 사이버대학 관련 언론 담론은 ① 코로나 비대면 전환, ② 사이버대학 운영ㆍ교육과정, ③ AIㆍ빅데이터 중심 미래기술 기반 교육혁신, ④ 정책ㆍ평생교육ㆍ교육환경 변화라는 네 가지 핵심 주제군으로 구성되어 있음이 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 사이버대학이 기술 수용과 교육 접근성 확대라는 시대적 요구를 동시에 충족하는 기관으로 재평가되고 있음을 시사한다. 본 연구는 사이버대학을 고등교육 체제 내 디지털 기반 핵심 교육기관으로 제도적으로 위치시키고, 평생교육 인프라 활용을 위한 정책적 제언의 기반을 마련하였다는 데 의의가 있다.

This study empirically analyzed the structure and trends of social perceptions of cyber universities, reflecting the rapid changes in the higher education landscape triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, using text mining techniques. This study examined media discourse from January 2020 to November 2025. The purpose of this study was to demonstrate that cyber universities are no longer merely supplementary to the existing higher education system, but are transforming into national educational infrastructure, meeting the demands of the times for technological adoption and expanded educational accessibility. The results of LDA topic modeling analysis confirmed that media discourse related to cyber universities is composed of four core topic groups: ① transition to non-face-to-face classes due to COVID-19, ② cyber university operation and curriculum, ③ educational innovation based on future technologies centered on AI and big data, and ④ changes in policies, lifelong education, and the educational environment. These results suggest that cyber universities are being re-evaluated as institutions that simultaneously meet the contemporary demands of technological adoption and expanded educational accessibility. This study is significant in that it institutionally positions cyber universities as core digital-based educational institutions within the higher education system and lays the foundation for policy recommendations for leveraging lifelong education infrastructure.
