시를 통해 본 여행에 대한 소고(小考) - 이수옥 시집『여정』을 중심으로

A Study on the trip seen through the Poem : Based on Lee Soo-ok's collection of poems, “The Journey”

본고는 이수옥 시인의 시집 『여정』은 존재적 자기 자각을 통해 삶의 위치를 착생시키고, 인간미가 넘쳤던 우리 사회의 목소리를 뿌리내리며 재생시키고 있는 한국현대시단의 영지버섯이다. 인간의 영혼이 빚어내는 내면의 향기가 깊은 사유로 담겨 있다. 아울러 이수옥 시인의 시집 『여정』은 인간의 심리적인 상처와 갈등을 치유해 내는 정화 기능을 하고 있다. 내적인 평화와 파괴된 외적인 완화를 얻도록 작용하고 있다. 이수옥 시인의 『여정』은 인생의 깊이로 수놓은 시집이다. 이에 이수옥 시인을 ‘현대판 헤밍웨이’로 명명한다. 노벨문학상을 수상한 미국의 소설가 어니스트 헤밍웨이(1899~1961)가 『노인과 바다(1952, 중편소설)』라는 대작을 남길 수 있었던 주된 이유는 인생의 굴곡진 삶을 표현할 수 있는 중년이었다는 점이다. 84일간이나 물고기를 못 잡은 81세의 늙은 어부가 거대한 물고기를 혈투 끝에 잡고 돌아오는 도중에 상어 떼를 만나, 항구에 닿았을 때의 물고기는 뼈만 남아있었다는 인생 스토리가 담겨 있다. 마찬가지로 이수옥 시인의 『여정』 속에는 내재된 인간의 고독과 슬픔이 절제된 가운데, 끝없는 인간의 사유와 성찰을 토로하고 있다.

There is a life story that an 81-year-old fisherman, who couldn't catch a fish for 84 days, met a group of sharks on his way back home after catching a giant fish after a bloody struggle, and only bones remained when the fish touched the harbor. Likewise, in poet Lee Soo-ok's “The Journey”, he talks about endless human thoughts and reflections while the human solitude and sadness inherent in him are restrained.
