외국인 유학생의 대학생활적응과 대학생활만족이 중도탈락의도에 미치는 영향

The Impact of University Life Adaptation and Satisfaction on Dropout Intentions among International Students

본 연구는 외국인 유학생의 대학생활적응과 대학생활만족이 중도탈락의도에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구이다. 국내 서울 소재 S대학의 대학원 재학생 230명을 대상으로 대학생활적응, 대학생활만족, 중도탈락의도를 측정하였다. 최종분석에 활용한 설문지는 총 192부이고 수집된 데이터는 SPSS for Windows Version 20.0 프로그램을 활용하여 빈도분석, 교차분석, 탐색적 요인분석, 신뢰도 검사, 상관분석, 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과로 첫째, 대학생활적응 중 사회체험 요인이 중도탈락의도의 자퇴마음에 유의한 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 대학생활만족 중 대학생활 및 교육의 질 요인이 중도탈락의도의 자퇴구체성에 유의한 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 대학생활적응 요인 중 사회체험과 개인심리 변인이 대학생활만족의 하위요인인 대학생활 및 교육의 질에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 대학생활적응 중 사회체험 요인이 대학생활만족의 하위 영역인 행정 및 복지 서비스 만족도에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 외국인 유학생의 중도탈락의도의 영향을 미치는 요인으로 대학생활적응의 사회체험 요인, 대학생활만족의 대학생활 및 교육의 질 요인으로 대학 내 사회체험 기회를 제공하고 대학생활과 대학교육의 질을 높이기 위한 노력이 필요하다는 시사점을 제시하였다.

This study investigates the effects of university life adaptation and university life satisfaction on dropout intention among international graduate students. The participants were 230 international students enrolled in graduate programs at S University located in Seoul, South Korea. Data were collected using measures of university life adaptation, university life satisfaction, and dropout intention. A total of 192 questionnaires were collected, and the data were analyzed using SPSS for Windows Version 20.0. Frequency analysis, cross-tabulation analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability tests, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were conducted. The results revealed the following: First, social experience, a subdimension of university life adaptation, had a significant negative effect on the intention to drop out. Second, satisfaction with university life and the quality of education had a significant negative effect on the specificity of dropout intention. Third, both social experience and personal psychological adaptation positively influenced satisfaction with university life and the quality of education. Fourth, social experience positively influenced satisfaction with administrative and welfare services. These findings suggest that social experiences and satisfaction with university life and the quality of education are key factors influencing dropout intention among international students. Accordingly, universities should enhance opportunities for international students to engage in social experiences and improve the overall quality of campus life and education in order to reduce dropout rates.
