중원경·북원경 지역의 역사문화콘텐츠 개발 방안

Strategic Development of Historical-Cultural Content in Jungwon-gyeong and Bukwon-gyeong

중원경(충주)과 북원경(원주)은 통일신라 5소경 중 핵심 지역으로 풍부한 역사문화유산을 지녔으나 현대적 콘텐츠 활용이 미흡하고 대중 인식 반영도 부족하다. 본 연구는 두 지역 역사문화콘텐츠의 지속가능한 활용 방안을 제시하기 위해 고유 자원 특성을 분석하고 소셜 미디어 텍스트마이닝으로 대중 인식을 파악하였다. 연구 결과 중원경·북원경을 연계 활용하면 시너지 효과가 나타났으며, 다층적 역사자산은 풍부한 스토리텔링을 가능케 하고, 내륙 교차로 및 산악 관문이라는 입지는 독자적 네트워크 강점을 제공하는 것으로 확인되었다. 온라인 담론 분석에서는 대중의 관심이 주로 통일신라 유산에 집중되어 있지만 현대적 콘텐츠 개발과 관광에 대한 기대도 나타났다. 이러한 분석을 바탕으로 역사 스토리텔링 강화, 연계 관광루트 개발, 교육 프로그램 연계, 디지털 콘텐츠화, 주민 참여 확대 등 5대 전략을 제안하였다. 또한 국가 K-컬처 진흥 및 지역균형발전 정책과 연계하여 두 지역을 통합 문화브랜드로 육성할 것을 제언하였다. 제시된 전략은 지역 정체성 강화와 문화관광 활성화에 기여하며, 유사 지역에도 적용 가능한 모델이 될 것으로 기대된다.

Jungwon-gyeong (Chungju) and Bukwon-gyeong (Wonju) were key regional centers in Unified Silla with rich cultural heritage, but modern content development efforts have been limited and have not adequately reflected public perspectives. This study aims to propose sustainable strategies for utilizing these regions’ historical and cultural assets by examining their unique attributes and analyzing public perception via social media text mining. Results show that jointly leveraging the two regions yields synergy, their multi-layered history enables rich storytelling, and their roles as an inland crossroads and a mountain gateway offer a unique network advantage. Online discourse analysis indicates that public interest focuses on the regions’ Unified Silla heritage but also reflects expectations for modern content and tourism. Based on these findings, five strategies are proposed: enhancing historical storytelling, developing linked tourism routes, integrating educational programs, digitizing content, and expanding community participation. The plan aligns with national cultural promotion and balanced regional development initiatives, and suggests a unified cultural brand encompassing both areas. These strategies can revitalize the regions, offering a model for others.
