관광학의 철학적 논의를 위한 윤리 담론 연구의 필요성: 인간과 비인간 동물의 관계를 중심으로

The Necessity of Ethical Discourse Research for Philosophical Discussion in Tourism Studies: Focusing on Human-Nonhuman Animal Relations

목적 최근 나타나고 있는 현대사회의 특징에 대한 논의에서는 근대성을 지탱해 온 인간 중심적 사고에서 벗어나 포스트휴먼 개념 및 관련 이론을 통해 이 시대의 모습을 설명하기 시작했다. 관광학 분야에서도 효율성과 생산성 가치에 입각한 산업적 측면의 논의를 넘어 더욱 확장된 대안적 연구의 필요성이 본격적으로 제기되는 시점에 이르렀다. 이에 이 연구는 관광학의 철학적 논의를 위한 윤리 담론 연구의 필요성을 인간과 비인간 동물의 관계를 중심으로 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 방법 본 연구는 문헌연구법을 활용하여 포스트휴먼 담론에 근거한 관광활동과 관련된 윤리 담론을 고찰하고, 특히 인간과 비인간 동물의 관계에서 고려해야 할 철학적 논의를 위한 이론적 토대를 제시하고자 했다. 결과 관광 내 윤리 담론은 단순히 자연생태계라는 거시적 차원에서만 고찰하는 데 그쳐서는 안 되며, 관광활동에서 관광주체 및 관광객체로 존재하는 비인간 동물에 대한 다양한 철학적 개념과 관련 논의까지 나아가 고찰해야 한다. 분석 결과, 포스트휴먼 시대의 관광연구에서는 인간과 비인간 동물 간 문화적 상호작용을 통해 형성되는 탈중심화된 정체성을 윤리적 관점에서 성찰할 필요가 있음을 알 수 있다. 결론 이 논문을 통해 인문학 및 순수 사회과학 학문 분과 영역의 개념과 이론을 바탕으로 인간과 비인간 동물 간 관계성을 탐구하는 관광학 연구의 확장 가능성과 그 학술적 의미를 도출할 수 있었다. 추후 관광학의 철학적 논의를 위한 윤리 담론 연구는 인간 중심의 관점을 넘어 인접한 생명체인 비인간 동물로의 분석 영역 확대가 요구된다.

Purpose The characteristics of contemporary society are increasingly explained by posthuman concepts and related theories, moving away from the human-centered thinking that has sustained modernity. The field of tourism studies has come to focus on expanded alternative research beyond discussions on efficiency and productivity. This study aims to examine the necessity of ethical discourse research for discussion of philosophy in tourism studies focusing on human-nonhuman animal relations. Methods This study employs a literature review method, drawing on posthuman discourse to explore ethical discourse related to tourism activities. Specifically, it seeks to establish a theoretical foundation for discussion of philosophy concerning human-nonhuman animal relations. Results Ethical discourse in tourism should not be confined merely to the macro-level consideration of the natural ecosystems but must also extend to examining diverse philosophical concepts and related discussions concerning nonhuman animals that exist as both subjects and objects in tourism activities. The analysis shows that tourism research in the posthuman era needs reflection on ethics regarding decentered identities formed through cultural interactions between humans and nonhuman animals. Conclusion In this paper, the expansion and academic significance of tourism research are identified through an exploration of human-nonhuman animal relations, based on concepts and theories from the humanities and social sciences. Future ethical discourse for discussion of philosophy in tourism studies requires expanding its scope beyond human-centered perspectives to encompass nonhuman animals as adjacent living beings.
