청소년의 도박 경험에 영향을 미치는 요인: 도박에 대한 인식과 목격 경험을 중심으로

Factors Influencing Adolescents’ Gambling Experience: Focusing on Perceptions of Gambling and Exposure to Gambling

오늘날 스마트폰 보급과 온라인 환경의 확산으로 청소년의 도박 접근성이 용이해지면서 청소년 도박률이 빠르게 증가하고 있다. 이는 중독, 비행, 학업 저하 등 2차 범죄가 발생 될 가능성이 있어 청소년 도박에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석할 필요가 있다. 따라서 이 연구는 청소년의 도박경험에 영향을 미치는 요인을 확인하기 위해 도박에 대한 인식과 도박 목격 경험을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 「2024 청소년 도박 실태조사」를 활용하여 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 도박에 대한 긍정적 인식 수준이 높을수록 청소년의 도박 경험 가능성이 유의미하게 증가하였으며, 주변 사람들의 도박을 목격한 경험이 많을수록 청소년 도박을 경험할 가능성 또한 유의하게 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 서덜랜드의 차별접촉이론을 지지하는 것으로 해석할 수 있다. 청소년 도박 예방을 위하여 도박 경험 이전 단계에서의 인식 형성과 또래와 가족 등 사회적 환경에서의 도박 노출을 함께 고려한 예방적 개입의 필요성을 제기한다.

With the widespread use of smartphones and the expansion of online environments, adolescents’ accessibility to gambling has increased substantially, leading to a rapid rise in adolescent gambling participation. This trend raises concerns about secondary problems such as addiction, delinquency, and academic underachievement, highlighting the need to identify factors influencing adolescent gambling experiences. Accordingly, this study examines the effects of gambling-related perceptions and exposure to gambling behaviors on adolescents’ gambling experiences. Using data from the 2024 National Survey on Adolescent Gambling, logistic regression analysis was conducted. The results indicate that adolescents with more positive perceptions of gambling were significantly more likely to have gambling experience. In addition, greater exposure to gambling behaviors among peers or family members was associated with a higher likelihood of adolescent gambling participation. These findings empirically support Sutherland’s differential association theory, suggesting that gambling behaviors are learned through social interactions within close relationships. The study underscores the importance of preventive interventions that address cognitive perceptions of gambling and social exposure to gambling environments prior to adolescents’ initial gambling experiences.
