초등교사의 문식성 교육 실천에 대한 생애사 연구 - 강승숙 교사의 “꽃씨 교실”

A Life History Research on Elementary School Teacher’s Literacy Education Practices : Teacher Kang Seungsook’s “Flower Seed Class”

목적: 이 연구는 한 초등교사의 생애사 연구를 통해 문식성 교육 실천의 맥락과 과정을 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 교육에 영향을 준 사회·문화적 맥락과 연결하고, 교육 생애의 전환점, 교육 실천 경험 등을 살필 것이다. 방법: 문식성 교육 실천을 생애사 연구로 접근하였다. 7차에 걸친 인터뷰, 참여 관찰, 자전적 에세이 등의 자료를 수집하여 분석하였다. 결과: 강교사의 교육 생애 전환점에 따라 출생부터 대학 시절, 교사 임용과 해직 시절, 복직과 인천 근무 시절, 강원도 주문진 근무 시절, 춘천 근무 시절, 퇴직 이후 시기로 나누어 문식성 교육 실천에 대해 논의하였다. 강교사는 학급 신문과 학급 문집 만들기, 책 읽어주기, 시 암송하기, 예술 융합 활동을 중심으로 문식성 교육을 실천했다. 결론: 생애사 연구는 교사가 문식성 교육을 어떻게 실천해 왔으며, 왜 변화하게 되었는지를 교사의 교육 생애와 사회문화적 맥락과 결부지어 그 의미를 해석할 수 있는 연구 방법으로서, 문식성 교육, 교사 교육, 문식성 연구에 시사하는 바가 크다.

Purpose: This study aims to explore the context and process of literacy education practices through a life history research of an elementary school teacher. It examined the socio-cultural contexts that influenced the teacher’s education, as well as key turning points and practical experiences throughout her teaching career. Methods: Literacy education practices were examined using a life history research approach. Data were collected and analyzed through seven rounds of interviews, participant observation, and autobiographical essays. Results: This study discusses literacy education practices by dividing the teacher's educational life into periods based on significant turning points: from birth to undergraduate years, the period of appointment and dismissal, the period of reinstatement and working in Incheon, the period of working in Jumunjin, Gangwon-do, the period in Chuncheon, and the post-retirement period. Teacher Kang practiced literacy education primarily through creating class newspapers and anthologies, read-aloud activities, poetry recitation, and arts-integrated activities. Conclusion: Life history research serves as a valuable methodological approach for interpreting how teachers have practiced literacy education and why their practices have changed, by linking these practices to teachers’ educational lives and sociocultural contexts. As such, it offers significant implications for literacy education, teacher education, and literacy research.
