Research on Smart Furniture Design : Focusing on Domestic Home Beds

The Fourth Industrial Revolution refers to an era of convergence in which information and communication technology (ICT) and various information and services are provided autonomously. The interaction between different fields of study and the combination of digital technologies lead to a breaking down of boundaries across all areas of industry, and it can be considered an innovative future industry with gradually expanding forms and scope. Recently, as modern people's interest in sound sleep has increased, the sleep industry, encompassing rest and health along with sleep, has been growing rapidly. This is driven by social factors such as increased stress, high-intensity work, and aging, leading to improved bedroom environments and growth in the bed market. As a result, beds are increasingly being perceived not just as tools for sleeping, but as furniture for health care, which has led to a rise in demand for premium functional beds. This expansion of the bed market can be understood as a result of the interaction between increased social awareness of the importance of sleep and advancements in technology integration. Accordingly, this paper aims to lay the groundwork for the future transformation of the furniture industry by researching home smart beds with a focus on domestic companies, in order to promote the sustainable growth of the domestic furniture industry amid changes in the global economy and industrial trends.
