跨文化背景下的文物名称翻译研究——以河南博物院为例

On English Translation of the Names of Museum Artifacts from the Perspective of Intercultural Communication: Taking Henan Museum as an Example

With the deep mingling of global culture and the growing interest of foreign friends in China’s traditional culture, museums, as an important window for displaying Chinese traditional culture and a resource bank of culture, play an irreplaceable role in cultural exchanges. However, at present, the English translation of the names of cultural relics in China’s museums still has many problems and how to realize cross-cultural communication in the English translation of the names of cultural relics is still a content we need to pay attention to. This paper mainly combines the theory of cross-cultural communication to explore the English translation of the names of museum relics, and analyzes in detail the translation methods used in the translation of the cultural relic names in Henan museums. It is found that when translating the names of cultural relics, the translator conveys the cultural connotation of the cultural relic names and promotes cross-cultural communication by adopting translation methods such as phonetic translation with notes, direct translation and Italian translation, given full consideration to the cultural differences between China and the West. The development and improvement of the translation of the names of cultural relics in museums could boost the promotion of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, the dissemination of Chinese culture and the enhancement of the influence of Chinese culture in the international community.

随着全球文化深入交融，外国友人对我国传统文化的兴趣日益浓厚，博物馆作为展示我国传统文化的重要窗口，是文化的资源库，在中外交流中起了不可替代的作用。但目前我国博物馆文物名称的英译还存在许多问题亟待解决，如何在文物名称的英译中实现跨文化交际仍然是我们需要关注的内容。本文主要结合跨文化交际的理论，探究博物馆文物名称的英译，详细分析了河南博物馆文物名称翻译使用的翻译方法。研究发现，译者在翻译文物名称时，在充分考虑中西方文化差异的前提下，通过采取音译加注解、直译、意译等翻译方法来传达文物名称的文化内涵，促进跨文化交流。博物馆文物名称翻译的发展与进步有利于促进中外文化交流，促进中华文化传播，提高中华文化在国际社会的影响力。
