This study examines the applicability of an AI-based risk assessment model integrating ChatGPT 5.1 Pro with a structured assessment tool, in response to the growing severity of dating violence and the need for early identification of escalation to serious violence. Court rulings from 367 stalking cases between 2022 and 2023 involving romantic partners were structured using the Korean Stalking Assessment Scale (K-SAS), from which 16 cases, including high-risk cases, were selected for analysis. Final risk assessments were conducted independently by two crime analysts and the AI, which performed evaluations using a pre-improvement model (v1) and a revised model (v2). Agreement between AI and expert assessments was examined using intraclass correlation coefficients. The results indicated that AI v1 overestimated risk by inferring information not explicitly contained in the rulings, resulting in substantial discrepancies from expert judgments. These discrepancies were significantly reduced in AI v2, which also demonstrated acceptable reliability in qualitative evaluations of risk factors and management strategies. Overall, the findings suggest that while AI is limited as a standalone assessor of serious violence escalation risk, it shows practical value as a decision-support tool for early risk identification and case screening. The study highlights the need to integrate AI-based risk assessment into a multilayered framework that complements human expert judgment.
