엔트리를 활용한 소수 학습 자료 개발과 수업 연구

A Study on the Development of Materials for Teaching and Learning Decimals Using Entry

이 연구는 초등학교 수학과 교육과정의 소수 학습 내용을 중심으로 학습 자료를 개발하고자 하였다. 초등교사에게 소수 수업의 교수 자료를 제공하고, 개발된 자료를 통하여 학생들에게 효과적인 소수 학습과 수학 교과에 대한 긍정적인 인식을 갖도록 하는데 초점을 두었다. 수학과 교육과정에 있는 소수 단원을 중심으로 코딩 기반 소프트웨어로 적용시킬 수 있는 소수 교수학습 자료의 가능성과 활용성을 살펴보았다. 엔트리를 활용하여 효과적으로 구현할 수 있는 단원으로서 소수 단원을 설정하여 소수 교수학습 자료를 개발하고 수업을 실행 및 분석하였다. 이 연구의 학생 참여대상자는 소수를 학습하지 않은 3학년 학생 2명과 소수의 덧셈과 뺄셈까지 학습한 4학년 학생 1명, 그리고 5학년 학생 3명 총 6명이다. 수업은 학년별로 이루어졌으며, 학년마다 다른 난이도로 접근하였다. 개발한 학습 자료에 따라 수업이 이루어졌으며, 총 3가지 주제의 수업 활동 자료를 활용하여 수업을 진행하고 활동 분석 및 개발 자료를 수정 보완하였다. 이 연구 결과, 첫째, 코딩 기반의 소프트웨어의 한 종류인 엔트리는 컴퓨터를 활용한 수업으로 학생들의 소수 학습에 흥미와 적극적인 참여를 이끌어낼 수 있었다. 둘째, 엔트리를 이용한 소수 학습 자료에서 입력한 소수 값에 따라 실행 화면이 즉각 반영되어 학생 스스로 확인이 가능하였고 피드백도 빨리 이루어져 수업에 대한 이해도를 높일 수 있었다. 셋째, 수학과 코딩의 융합 수업으로 코딩의 절차를 익히는 기존의 방식에서 벗어나 코딩 기반 환경에서 수학을 학습하고 수학 교과에 대한 긍정적인 인식을 가져올 수 있었다.

On the assumption that computational thinking is an important mathematics literacy of elementary school students, this study aims to develop teaching and learning mathematics environment using Entry as a coding program for integrated computational thinking and learning mathematics. For the purpose of this study, two research questions were set up as follows: First, constructing lessons of decimals using Entry and developing teaching and learning materials using Entry. Second, implementing them in elementary school students’ lessons and analyzing the results of developed and implemented lessons with teaching and learning materials. The subjects of study are six students among whom two 3rd graders have not learned decimals, and one 4th grader and three 5th graders have even learned addition and subtraction of decimals. Lessons were performed by grade at a different level using the developed materials and in the course of it, the materials on three topics of lesson were modified and supplemented. The results of this study are the followings: First, three topics for teaching and learning decimals using Entry were constructed and associated with elementary school mathematics curriculum. Teaching and learning decimals using Entry is effective for introducing the concept of decimals for elementary school students. Three topics were organized based on decimals contents of 3th-4th grader band in the elementary school mathematics curriculum. Teaching and learning materials were developed for learning the concept of decimals; ‘Running Race,’ ‘Blinking Light,’ and ‘Making My Own Coding.’ Three lesson plans with teaching and learning materials were developed and implemented for elementary school students. Second, the students were observed to participate in the learning actively, as they could check and correct the errors of learning easily. They were able to achieve leaning objectives of making materials for learning decimals on their own and by this, understanding the concept of decimals and comparing the size of decimals.
