보조사 ‘밖에’의 고정함축적 해석과 유사 문법 변별의 교육적 시사점 - 보조사 ‘만’과의 대조를 중심으로

The Conventional Implicature of the Korean Auxiliary Particle ‘bakke’ and Its Educational Implications for Distinguishing Similar Grammatical Items

본 연구는 보조사 ‘밖에’의 고정함축적 해석 양상을 분석하고, 유사 문법의 변별 기준으로서의 가능성을 검토하였다. 분석 결과, ‘밖에’는 ‘한정’이나 ‘배제’의 의미를 넘어 부족성 평가와 결합된 ‘기대 위배’라는 고정함축적 해석을 유도하는 경향이 확인되었다. 또한 기대 위배적 해석이 확장되어 사실에 대한 예상 불일치를 나타내는 양상도 관찰되었다. 더 나아가 본 연구는 ‘밖에’가 포함되어 관습적으로 사용되는 구 단위 표현의 고정함축적 해석 양상을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 고정함축적 해석이 비교적 유지되는 표현과 그 의미가 약화되어 관습적 의미로 재해석되는 표현이 관찰되었다. 이러한 분석을 바탕으로 ‘밖에’의 고정함축적 해석을 활용한 유사 문법의 변별을 위한 교육적 시사점을 검토하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구의 결과를 반영하여 화용론적 관점에서 유사 문법인 ‘만’과의 대조가 드러날 수 있도록 교사용 지도서를 재구성하여 제시하였다. 본 연구는 유사 문법의 변별 기준을 확장하고, 화용론적 접근의 교육적 적용 가능성을 모색하였다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다.

This study analyzes the conventional implicature of the Korean auxiliary particle ‘bakke’ and examines its potential as a criterion for distinguishing similar grammatical items. The findings suggest that ‘bakke’ conveys an expectation-violation implicature beyond its basic meanings of limitation or exclusion, and that this reading may extend to mark a gap between informational expectation and factual reality. Furthermore, this study investigates phrasal expressions containing ‘bakke’, showing that in some cases the implicature is preserved, while in others it is weakened and conventionalized at the phrasal level. Based on these findings, this study explores educational implications for Korean language education by presenting a restructured teacher’s guide that highlights the pragmatic contrast between ‘bakke’ and ‘man’. This study contributes to broadening the criteria for semantic distinction and to exploring the potential of a pragmatics-based perspective in language pedagogy.
