This paper takes the world heritage site of Lijiang as a case study to explore the complex role of its “ancient city-new city-village” ternary space in the practice of residential healthcare. Based on Lefebvre's theory of spatial production, through field observations and analysis of the activities of residents in residential healthcare, the study finds that the ternary space in Lijiang is constructed as a cultural capital consumption space, a modernity convenience facility supply space, and an ecological capital projection space, each with different spatial production logics and complementary functions; residents actively integrate ternary spatial resources through strategic mobility patterns and spatiotemporal differentiation practices, forming a daily activity network of “ancient city leisure-new city healthcare-village ecology.” The study proposes to establish a cross-space coordination mechanism, promote micro-renewal and age-friendly renovation, stabilize the supply of rural healthcare services, respect the daily wisdom and practical agency of the elderly, and provide theoretical and policy insights for the development of residential healthcare in high cultural value destinations.
