Research Trends in Self-Esteem Among Nursing Students: Keyword Network Analysis

본 연구는 국내에서 수행된 간호대학생 자아존중감 관련 연구 동향과 지식구조를 체계적으로 파악하기 위해 키워드 네트워크 분석을 활용한 문헌기반 서술적 연구이다. 분석 결과, ‘스트레스대처’와 ‘능력’은 출현 빈도뿐 아니라 연결중심성, 매개중심성 및 근접중심성 지표 모두에서 최상위에 위치하여, 간호대학생 자아존중감 연구 전반에서 핵심 개념으로 확인되었으며, 다양한 연구 주제들과 폭넓게 연결되며, 서로 다른 연구 영역을 매개하는 중심 축으로 기능하고 있었다. 또한 키워드 간 공출현 분석에서는 ‘사회–사회적 지지’, ‘능력–의사소통’, ‘생각–자살생각’ 등의 결합이 두드러지게 나타나, 자아존중감이 사회적 관계와 정신건강 위험 요인까지 포괄하는 개념으로 논의되고 있음을 보여주었다. 커뮤니티 분석 결과, 간호대학생 자아존중감 연구는 전문직 정체성 및 진로, 대학생활 적응과 대인관계·정서, 그리고 정신·신체 건강의 세 하위영역으로 구조화되어 전개되고 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 간호대학생의 자아존중감이 스트레스 상황에서의 대처 과정과 수행 역량에 대한 자기 인식을 중심으로 형성되는 적응적 심리 자원임을 시사한다. 따라서 학업 및 임상 환경에서의 적응 메커니즘을 통합적으로 설명할 수 있는 자아존중감에 대한 후속 연구가 필요하다.

This study is a literature-based descriptive analysis that systematically examines research trends and the knowledge structure of studies on self-esteem among nursing students conducted in Korea, using keyword network analysis. The results showed that coping with stress and ability ranked highest not only in frequency of occurrence but also across all centrality measures, including degree centrality, betweenness centrality, and closeness centrality, identifying them as core concepts in the overall body of research on nursing students’ self-esteem. These keywords were broadly connected with diverse research topics and functioned as central hubs mediating different research domains. In addition, keyword co-occurrence analysis revealed prominent pairings such as social–social support, ability–communication, and thought–suicidal ideation, indicating that self-esteem has been discussed as a concept encompassing social relationships as well as mental health risk factors. Community analysis further demonstrated that research on self-esteem among nursing students has been structured into three subdomains: professional identity and career development; college life adjustment with interpersonal relationships and emotional factors; and mental and physical health. These findings suggest that self-esteem among nursing students is an adaptive psychological resource formed around self-perceptions of coping processes and performance-related abilities in stressful situations. Therefore, further research on self-esteem is needed to integratively explain adaptation mechanisms within academic and clinical environments for the nursing students.
