초기 청소년의 스마트폰 의존과 온라인·오프라인 비행 경험의 관련성 - 교사 및 또래 관계의 보호요인 검증

Smartphone Dependence and Online and Offline Delinquency in Early Adolescence : The Protective Roles of Teacher and Peer Relationships

본 연구는 스마트폰 사용이 일상화된 환경에서 초기 청소년의 온라인 및 오프라인 비행 경험과 관련된 요인을 검토하고, 스마트폰 의존을 개인 수준의 위험요인으로, 교사관계와 또래관계를 학교 맥락의 보호요인으로 설정하여 그 상대적 영향력을 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 분석에는 「한국아동·청소년패널조사 2018(KCYPS 2018)」 중학교 1학년 자료를 활용하였으며, 결측이 없는 2,407명을 분석 대상으로 하였다. 스마트폰 의존, 교사관계, 또래관계를 독립변수로 설정하고 성별, 주관적 학업성취, 공격성, 우울, 부정적 부모 양육태도를 통제한 상태에서 온라인 및 오프라인 비행 경험 여부를 종속변수로 하여 이항 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과 스마트폰 의존은 온라인 및 오프라인 비행 경험 모두에서 유의한 정적 관련성을 보였으며, 영향력은 온라인 비행에서 더 크게 나타났다. 교사관계는 오프라인 비행 경험 가능성을 감소시키는 보호요인으로 확인된 반면, 또래관계는 온라인 비행에서 정적인 관련성을 보였다. 공격성은 두 유형의 비행 모두에서 가장 큰 영향력을 보이는 요인이었다. 이러한 결과는 초기 청소년의 비행 경험이 개인적 특성과 학교 내 관계 환경, 그리고 행동이 이루어지는 상호작용 맥락이 결합된 과정속에서 형성됨을 시사하며, 비행 예방을 위해 스마트폰 사용 환경과 학교 기반 관계 요인을 함께 고려한 접근의 필요성을 제시한다.

This study examined factors associated with online and offline delinquent experiences among early adolescents in the context of widespread smartphone use. Smartphone dependence was conceptualized as an individual-level risk factor, while teacher and peer relationships were considered school-based protective factors. Data were drawn from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018 (KCYPS 2018), including 2,407 middle school students. Binary logistic regression analyses were conducted to examine delinquent experiences while controlling for gender, subjective academic achievement, aggression, depression, and negative parenting attitudes. The results indicated that smartphone dependence was positively associated with both online and offline delinquency, with a stronger effect on online delinquency. Teacher relationships reduced the likelihood of offline delinquency, whereas peer relationships showed a positive association with online delinquency. Aggression emerged as the strongest predictor across both models. These findings suggest that delinquent experiences in early adolescence are shaped by the interaction of individual characteristics, school-based relationships, and behavioral contexts, highlighting the need for preventive approaches that consider both smartphone use environments and relational resources within schools.
