텍스트 마이닝을 활용한 미국 치위생학 연구 동향 분석 : Journal of Dental Hygiene(2001–2025) 논문을 중심으로

Analysis of Trends in American Dental Hygiene Research Using Text Mining : Focusing on Papers in the Journal of Dental Hygiene(2001–2025)

본 연구는 2001년부터 2025년까지 Journal of Dental Hygiene(JDH)에 게재된 총 784편의 논문을 대상으로 키워드 분석과 LDA 토픽 모델링을 적용하여 미국 치위생학의 구조적 연구 동향을 분석하고자 하였다. 그 결과, 미국 치위생학 연구는 임상 기술 중심 패러다임에서 벗어나 교육 혁신, 전문직 정체성 강화, 예방 중심 보건의료 전달체계 구축, 직업성 건강관리, 근거 기반 임상 중재, 행동 변화 중재, 취약계층 접근성 강화, 의료–치과 통합모델로 연구 영역이 확장되고 있음을 확인하였다. 도출된 8개 핵심 토픽은 치과위생사의 역할이 임상 보조자 중심 구조에서 독립적 전문 보건인, 예방 상담자, 건강행동 중재자, 공공보건 인력으로 재구조화되고 있음을 일관되게 보여주었으며, 치위생학 연구 패러다임이 치료 중심구조에서 예방·중재·행동·근거기반 실천 중심 구조로 변화되고 있음을 반영하였다. 본 연구는 미국 치위생학 연구의 구조적 변화를 실증적으로 규명함으로써, 치위생학이 보건의료 시스템 내 핵심 전문 학문으로 정착하고 있음을 보여주는 학문적·정책적 근거를 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

This study examines structural research trends in U.S. dental hygiene scholarship using keyword analysis and LDA Topic Modeling of 784 articles published in the Journal of Dental Hygiene from 2001 to 2025. The results reveal a clear paradigm shift from a clinically skill-centered model toward an integrated research framework encompassing educational reform, professional identity development, preventive healthcare delivery systems, occupational health, evidence-based clinical interventions, behavioral change interventions, improved access for vulnerable populations, and medical–dental integration models. The eight core topics consistently demonstrate a reconfiguration of the dental hygienist’s professional role from a clinical assistant to an independent healthcare professional, preventive counselor, behavioral interventionist, and public health practitioner. These findings empirically substantiate the structural transformation of dental hygiene as a discipline and provide academic and policy-relevant evidence supporting its establishment as a core professional field within contemporary healthcare systems.
