자유전공 대학생의 진로 인식과 경험 탐색

Exploring Career Awareness and Experiences for College Students with Undeclared Majors

본 연구는 자유전공 학생들의 맞춤형 상담과 진로교육에 대한 시사점을 제공하는 것에 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 자유전공 제도를 통해 전공과 진로를 선택한 경험이 있는 2학년 이상 학생 10명을 선정하였다. 설문을 통해 전공을 결정하는데 도움이 된 학업과 진로의 경험에 대해 질문하였다. 응답한 자료는 NetMiner 프로그램을 활용하여 텍스트 분석과 토픽모델링 분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 자기개념과 성격, 가치관, 흥미와 같은 개인적인 요인이 진로와 전공 선택에 중요하게 작용하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 입학 계기는 학과, 전공, 자율 등을 중심으로, 학교 선택은 대학의 가치, 고등학교 교사의 영향과 관련되어 있었다. 토픽모델링 분석은 5개의 주제로 도출되었다. 과목 선택과 수강 필요, 학부 선택과 진학 흥미, 학과 선택과 학생 고민, 진로 탐색과 자기이해, 전공 수업과 졸업 준비로 명명하였다. 분석 결과를 토대로 자유전공 학생들의 개인별 맞춤형 상담과 프로그램, 제도적 지원에 대해 논의하였다.

This study aims to provide insights into the university system for personalized counseling and career education for students with undeclared majors. To this end, ten students in their second year or higher who had experience selecting their majors and career paths through the undeclared major system were selected. The questionnaire asked about the academic and career experiences that helped them eventually declare their majors. Their responses were analyzed by NetMiner for text analysis and topic modeling analysis. The findings from text analysis are as follows. Personal factors such as self concept, personality, values, and interests were found to play an important role in career and major selection. Also, their motivations to join as undeclared students were found to be connected with department, major, autonomy, and related areas. University selection was found to be connected with name value and influence from their high school counselors. The topic modeling analysis revealed 5 topics: course selection and requirements, considering faculty and academic interests, department selection and student concerns, engaging in career exploration and self-understanding, and major courses and graduation preparation. Based on the questionnaire responses, personalized counseling, tailored programs, and institutional support for students in the undeclared major program were discussed.
