『宣和奉使高麗圖經』 연구를 통해 본 고려시대 해양사 연구의 현황

The Current State of Research on Goryeo Maritime History as Seen Through Studies of the Gaolitujing(『宣和奉使高麗圖經』)

이 논문은 『宣和奉使高麗圖經』 중 해양 관련 기록을 통해 고려시대 해양사 연구의 현황을 검토하는 데 목적을 두었다. 먼저 권33 「주즙」조에 나타난 순선·관선·송방·막선 등 고려 선박의 구조와 용도에 대한 선행 연구를 살펴보았다. 김재근의 초기 연구 이후, 『고려도경』의 기록과 수중 발굴 선박 자료를 비교한 연구들이 활발히 이루어져 고려 선박의 평저선적 특징, 가룡목 사용 등에 대한 이해가 심화되었음을 확인하였다. 다음으로 권34~39의 「해도」 관련 연구들을 살펴봄으로써, 객관의 위치 비정과 송 사신단의 항해 경로 등에 대한 연구가 어떻게 이뤄졌는지를 검토하였다. 이를 통해 초기 연구는 문헌 중심으로 시작되었다가 답사와 지형 분석, 해양수심자료 등을 활용한 보다 심화된 연구로 발전했음을 알 수 있었다. 특히 森平雅彥·문경호·강원춘의 연구는 항로 비정에 큰 영향을 미쳤다. 본 연구는 이러한 연구 동향을 정리함으로써 『고려도경』이 고려 해양사 연구에서 가지는 사료적 가치를 재확인하고, 부족하나마 나름의 전망을 제시해 보았다.

This study examines the current state of research on maritime history during the Goryeo period by analyzing the maritime-related records in the Gaolitujing(『宣和奉使高麗圖經』). First, it reviews previous scholarship on the structure and functions of Goryeo ships—such as Sunseon(巡船), Gwanseon(官船), Songbang(松舫), and Magseon(幕船)—as described in vol33. 「ship(舟楫)」. Since Kim Jae-geun’s pioneering work, comparative studies drawing on both the Gaolitujing and excavated shipwrecks have deepened our understanding of key features of Goryeo vessels, including their flat-bottomed hulls and the use of garyongmok (駕龍木). The study also surveys research on vol.34–39 「sea route(海道)」, focusing on debates over the locations of reception facilities(客館) and the reconstruction of the Song diplomatic mission’s sailing route to Goryeo. Early studies relied mainly on textual analysis, but later research developed into more empirical approaches utilizing field surveys, topographical analysis, and high-precision maritime depth data. In particular, the works of Morihira Masahiko(森平雅彥), Mun Gyung-ho, and Gang Won-chun significantly influenced the identification of the route. By synthesizing these scholarly trends, this study reaffirms the historical value of the Gaolitujing as a primary source for Goryeo maritime history and offers a modest perspective on future directions for related research.
