Effect of Scalp Micro Pigmentation(SMP) Satisfaction on Psychological Well-Bing : The Double Mediating Effects of Appearance Satisfaction and Perceived Physical Attractiveness

This study aimed to investigate the influence of scalp micropigmentation(SMP) on psychological wellbeing, with a focus on the double mediating effects of appearance satisfaction and perceived physical attractiveness. A structured questionnaire survey was administered to a total of 454 adult men and women who had undergone SMP. The collected data were analyzed using frequency analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, structural equation modeling, and bootstrapping to test multiple mediation effects. The results were as follows: First, satisfaction with SMP had a statistically significant positive effect on both appearance satisfaction and perceived physical attractiveness. Second, appearance satisfaction and perceived physical attractiveness were found to have a statistically significant positive impact on psychological wellbeing. Third, SMP satisfaction did not have a significant direct influence on psychological wellbeing. Finally, both appearance satisfaction and perceived physical attractiveness fully mediated the relationship between SMP satisfaction and psychological wellbeing. These findings provide empirical evidence that SMP not only enhances the appearance satisfaction of individuals who are suffering from hair loss but also contributes to improvements in their psychological wellbeing.
