성인 취미 목적 한국어 학습자의 수강 종료 지점과 학습 요구 전환 분석 - 싱가포르 민간 한국어 교육기관 사례를 중심으로

Course Termination Points and Transitions in Learning Demands among Adult Learners of Korean for Hobby Purposes: A Case Study of a Private Korean Language Institution in Singapore.

본 연구는 싱가포르의 한 민간 한국어 교육기관에서 수강한 성인 취미 목적 한국어 학습자의 수강 종료 지점이 표준 교재 기반 레벨·단원 체계 안에서 어떻게 분포하는지를 살펴보고, 주요 종료 지점에서 학습 요구의 변화와 기관 운영상의 경계가 어떻게 맞물리는지를 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 2017년 1월부터 2026년 4월까지의 수강 종료 기록 중 분석 기준에 부합하는 1,273건을 대상으로 최종 종료 지점의 분포를 확인하고 이를 교재의 과업 구성과 재등록·평가·진급 구조, 학습 지원 자료와 함께 검토하였다. 분석 결과, 수강 종료 기록은 『서울대 한국어』 1A 1과, 1A 4~5과, 1B 16과, 2A 3과에서 상대적으로 높은 빈도를 보였다. 이 지점들은 단순한 문법 난도의 문제가 아니라 학습 요구의 변화가 정규 과정 진입, 재등록, 평가, 레벨 진급과 같은 기관 운영상의 경계와 맞물리는 전환 지점 또는 전환 구간으로 해석되었다. 본 연구에서 ‘전환 공백’은 새롭게 요구되는 학습 내용과 활동이 다음 학습 단계의 준비 및 장기적인 취미 목적과 충분히 연결되지 못하는 상황을 의미한다. 다만 본 자료는 각 단원의 실제 중단율이 아니라 수강 종료 기록 내 최종 종료 지점의 분포를 보여 주므로 특정 지점의 중단 가능성을 직접 의미하지는 않는다. 이를 바탕으로 성인 취미 목적 한국어교육에서는 주요 전환 지점 이전에 학습 요구의 변화를 안내하고, 현재의 학습 과업을 장기적 취미 목적과 연결하도록 돕는 예방적 전환 매개가 필요하다

This study examines course termination points among adult learners of Korean for hobby purposes at a private Korean language institution in Singapore. Based on 1,273 course termination records collected between January 2017 and April 2026, it analyses the distribution of final termination points within a standard textbook-based level and unit system. The findings show relatively high frequencies at four transition points: SNU Korean 1A Unit 1, 1A Units 4-5, 1B Unit 16, and 2A Unit 3. These points are interpreted not as direct evidence of demotivation or as estimates of dropout rates, but as moments where changing learning demands intersect with institutional boundaries such as re-enrolment, assessment, feedback, and level progression. The study conceptualises this as a transition gap and suggests the need for preventive support that connects new learning demands with learners’ preparation for the next stage and their longer-term goals for learning Korean as a hobby.
