This study is a preliminary investigation into the reflexive middles in English. It presents new ogservations and suggests several grammatical issues in the construction, which has rarely been studied in the literature. Like a plain(non-reflexive) middle, the subject of a reflexive middle corresponds to the object of the transitive verb. However, it will be shown that the reflexive middles in English differ from the plain middles. An English reflexive middle contains a reflexive, which does not appear in a plain middle. And the reflexive middles are different from the plain middles in terms of argument structure, imlicit argument, eventuality, adverbial condition, and lexico-semantic condition.
