to develop korea as the hub country in north east asia is the top project among the ten important projects that president Roh is undertaking. if korea wants to become the 'center' country in military, international relations, economy, and culture, the neighbor countries will express strong opposition and discontent. however, if korea proposes to provide services for regional peace and prosperity, the neighbor countries will heartily welcome korea's proposal. this study focoses on the importance of northeast asia. to explore the economic opportunities, the author examines the degree of factor complementarity for six countries - china, japan, america, far east russia, north korea, and the republic of korea.
