Kim, In-Sook. 2002.Place Names in England as a Mirror of Its History. The History of English, 13. The history of England is reflected in the history of English Place-names. The waves of conquest and settlement were accompanied by new languages, each of which left their mark on English place-names. In this paper, I have tried to trace the mark of new languages with which invaders or settlers came to England. On the origins and developments of some place-names, there have been theories or conjecturcs, which will be introduced herein as well.
