The vocabulary of the Present Day English is considered to be cosmopolitan, rich in synonyms, and productive in affixing. All of these properties came from accepting and utilizing many loan words from various languages around the world. Especially, loan words from French and Latin changed the English vocabulary form its original Germanic character towards its dual Germanic and Romance character. According to Hughes (2000), more than half of the 600 English core vocabulary are loan words and they are frequently being used in everyday life.
