This paper examines reflexive constructions in English and discusses some issues in the constructions. This paper is especially interested in the reflexive construction where the antecedent of a reflexive is Patient subject, which I call PARC (Patient Antecedent Reflexive Construction). It is shown that PARCs differ from not only middles but also (reflexive) ergatives that are productive in European languages. I also show that PARC verbs are not derived from the corresponding transitive verbs, but they themselves are transitive verbs.
