Adolescents' Perception of Parental Child Rearing Attitude - Difference between and within parents -

Present study examined the relation among adolescents perception of parental control, warmth and autonony between and within parents. The subjects were 675 adolescents ranging from fifth to ninth grade from 2-parent families. They were asked to respond the parental child rearing attitude questionnaire. It was found that there was no significant difference between paternal and maternal control to sons and daughters. Adolescents perecived mothers expressed more warmth than fathers. Korean traditional ideal style of child rearing attitude "Strict father, benevolent mother" hypothesis was not supported. Results also showed that daughters perceived their mothers exerted more control than fathers. Sons and daughters perceived mothers exerted more warmth and control than their fathers.
