In Denmark, seatings have been considered one of the most important furniture for their daily life, just like another western countries. Designs of Danish seatings were inspired mainly from England and France, and spread to farm houses through wealthy homes. There were a few kinds of seatings, used often in Danish farm : the bench, the settle, the sofa, the armchair, the side chair and the stool. The most frequently used seatings in Danish farm houses was the bench accompanied by table. Three-legged chair and stool were suitable for household works in the uneven mud of farm. Armchair was often decorated by carving of owner's inscription and date of manufacture on the back, and seat was woven with string of rye-straw. It was easy to find armchairs with Rococo curve ornaments in the farm as well as wealthy homes. Something armchairs made by basketry technique were found in Jutland and Funen. This study have been carried out with frequent field trips to many National and local folk museums in Denmark. Following methods were applied to promote easy understanding for readers: making slides and photoes, sketches, and easy drawings as well as literature study. These kinds of study would be valuable to find out specialities of a certain country to understand its cultural background. Also it could contribute to promote furniture design in Korea. through understanding others.
