여성의식 향상을 위한 집단상담 프로그램에 대한 고찰

  • 126

This study aims to review traditional counseling theories and some group counseling programs to reinforce women I s consciousness from the viewpoint of feministic counseling. The Korean family structure rooted in the patriarchal society has resulted in dysfunctional systems and created many programs for Korean women. During the 1980s, feminists have criticized traditional counseling approaches that predominantly view women as passive and submissive. This study also reviews some group counseling programs from feminist perspectives: Self-assertiveness training programs by KWDI, Action list for feminist family therapy by Chaney, Programs for healing the Korean women's Han by Yong-Ae Kim, and Programs for battered women by Eun- Ju Shin. The review of this study suggests that group counseling from feminism perspectives be widely applied to and expanded to career development counseling, family and marital counseling, sexuality counseling, and other specialized client groups with special needs.
