The effects of salinity, and silt and clay on the growth of PorphYrrL yezoensis and Undaria pinnatifida from February to May 3, 1985 were measured. The growth rate with the lapsed time in culture day of P. yezoensis increased in the salinity, and silt and clay rises in the range of 0-200ppm silt and clay of 32‰ salinity, O-lOOppm silt and clay of 27960 salinity, and O-50ppm silt and clay of 22‰ salinity, respectively. The growth rate and growth length of conchocelis were increased as the salinity, and silt and clay rises in the range of O-1OOppm silt and clay of 32960 salinity 0-50ppm silt and clay of 27‰ salinity and 0-20ppm silt and clay of 22‰ salinity. In the rate of growth weight on the thallus of U. pinnatifida was inhibited in the 32‰ and 27‰ salinity of silt and clay of lOO-200ppm concentrations and decreased in the 22‰ salinity from 50ppm to 200ppm concentrations. Studies on the wet weight of thallus, conchocelis of P, yexoensis and U. pinnatifida showed a remarkable loss with decreased of concentrations in the lower salinity than time of exposure to the high concentrations of silt and clay.
