The present study deals with the spray. engine performance and combustion characteristics by changing of alternative fuels a diesel fuel substitutes in an IDI diesel engine. Since the spray charcteristics have a very complicated flow process in the cylinder after injection, Experiments were performed under the quiescent air at room temperature and atmosphere. The results of the present investigation are summarized as follows: 1. Spray charateristics, that is, spray droplet and angle in soybean fuel to be compared with diesel fuel is largely increased, and engine performance and exhaust emission is much improved. 2. Alternative fuel in diesel is more influenced injection timing. engine performance and exhaust emission. and one of important factors to alternative fuel using have MBT due to various fuels. 3. Conclusionly, alternative fuel without blending, soybean is capable use in a diesel engine.
