Maturity and spawning season of the Marbled Sole, pleurncetes yokohamae, in approaches to Kyongyolbiyolto of the Yellow Sea, Korea

Maturity and spawning season of the marbled Sole, pleuroncetes yokohasmae, approaches to Kyoungyolbiyolto of the Yellow sea was examined from seasonal changes in percentage occurrence of mutual gonad index and fatness(condition factor). The materials used in this study consist of 256 specimens from September 1992 to August1993. gonadsomatic index of marbled sole gradually increased from November and attained peak in February and then declined quickly after spawning season and after spawning season. It seems probable that such seasonal change in gonadsomatic index and fatness are closely relation to the spawning season. Analysis showed that spawning season is from February to April. Individual fish spawn only one time during spawning season. No specimens smaller than 180 mm, body length, are from maturing in females and males.
