A study on the evaluation on service quality of mUor container J;XJrts in Nrlh-East Asian region and their cooperative scheme

This DBpel' aims to evaluate comparatively the service quality on major container ports in North East Asian (NEA) region and thus suggest the effective schemes to cooperate among the ports. Container ports selected are composed of Kobe, Osaka, Kaohsiung, HongKong, Shanghai, Tianjin, Busan, Kwangyang and Inchon and the methodologies used are literature survey, questionnaire and field survey. In particular, service quality factors in questionnaire, wlllch is the most important method in the study, are greatly classified into 7 key categories and are perceived by a J(very much low) to 7(very good) scale from the shipping companies' viewpoints. Tills study shows that Korean ports are relatively low in providing their service quality, compared to Hong Kong and Kaohsiung ports. Further to this, NEA ports are just time to cooperate and the relative schemes(the establishment of NEA ports' cooperative council, the self-control of fierce competition to attract transshipment cargoes, the provision of ad vanced information technology to less-developed ports, the foundation of cooperative systems among the ports themselves, etc) will be materialized as a win-win strategy.
