The Object of the Korean Agricultural Polocy for the Elevation of the Competitive Power on Products Post-Uruguay Round.

(1) The purpose of this paper is to suggest the object for the future of the agricultural policy through appraising the Korean agricultural policy and scrutinizing the import opening system of agricultural products and the crisis of Korean agriculture after discussing the change of the function as a part of agriculture to the economic development in Korea. (2) In the process of the economic development in Korea, the agriculture has contributed to it as a supplier of the provisions, labor, capital and a consumer of the manufacturing products. But during the one fourth century, the agricultural policy of government authorities impeded the development of agriculture because of carrying on the agriculture as a subsidiary faculty for the supporting the industry and export. This is directly linked with the crisis of agriculture mesh with the import opening system of farm products at the present. We ought to reflect the past rural policy and to be improved it to have competitive power and trustworth cherished the balance and connection within the whole of national economy. (3) After reaching the agreement of the U.R.negotiation, if the foreign farm products are imported freely in our home market, Korean farm products which don't have the competitive power in both price and qualty will loose the market competitive power. Therefore the agricultural policy for the reconsideration of competitive power is required because Korean farm products must be gotten such a blow. (4) The object of agricultural policy for the reconsideration must be laid on the enlargement the adequate management plan for the farming and the improvement of agricultural technique. In the case of rice culture, the market farming, the mechanized large-scale farming and the upbringing measure of agricultural corporation are required.
