A Study on the Shipboard Collegian's View of Value and Variation in Higher Maritime Educational Institution : The Case of Korea Maritime University

It is through utmost importance that establishing view of value on the part of Collegian's in Higher Maritime Educational Institution. And it is also deemed to lay foundation enhancing educational efficiency that surveying tendency of view of value. Under the above premise, this research support to investigate tendency of the view and contribute to betterment of Higher Maritime Educational Institution. We have implemented the questionnaire survey to study the Shipboard Collegian's Sense of Value and the change of its worth on totally 900 collegians who studied the Maritime College of the Korea Maritime University. And the result was calculated by frequency and percentage ; the significance of difference among each collegian group(freshman, sophomore, junior, senior) was analyzed by x² inspection. Further more, we compared collegian of the Maritime College of the Korea Maritime University with those of Mokpo National Maritime University. The result was as followings; a) the way of selfish, egoistic thought and male supremacy are still remains b) the idea of mammonism is still deep-rooted in all parts of sense c) the consciousness of self-growth and self-perfection toward seamanship is weak d) intimacy between professors and collegians is low and weak We suggest that continued higher maritime education process could give satisfaction to collegian of higher maritime institution.
