초기 서사에서의 ‘신이성(神異性)’ - 『삼국유사』의 신이 구조

이 글은 『삼국유사』에 구축되어 있는 신이성, 신이 구조를 밝힘으로써 초기 서사의 맥락을 가늠해 본 것이다. 『삼국유사』가 「기이(紀異)」편을 필두로 엮어진 예에서 알 수 있듯이 작품 전체가 신이한 색채가 농후한 작품이다. 이는 물론 불교적 영험을 위주로 서술한 취지에 기인한 바이지만, 하나의 문화와 사유가 집적된 역사물이기도 했기 때문이다. 바로 이런 집적물로서 『삼국유사』를 통괄하는 코드는 ‘신이성(神異性)’이며, 그것은 ‘신성’과 ‘기이’가 결합된 형태로 나타난다. 이 신성과 기이, 그리고 그 주변에 ‘인간’이 놓이게 됨으로써 서사적 면모가 뚜렷해지기 시작한다. 이런 형태를 ‘신이 구조’라 하고, 그런 예를 「김현감호(金現感虎)」와 「조신(調信)」 같은 작품을 통해서 확언해 보았다. 아울러 신성보다는 인간과 기이와의 만남을 통해서 서사적 활성이 강화되며, 이것이 초기 서사의 주요한 지표라는 점도 추론해 보았다. 이렇게 구축된 초기 서사의 흐름은 향후 일정기간 이어지고 있으며, 이는 앞으로 보다 정치한 논의를 통해서 보완되어야 할 사안임을 확인하였다.

In this paper, I tried to find out logical connection of the early narrative by explaining the mythical and strange structure or character of 『Sam-guk-yu-sa』. From the fact that 「Ki-yi」 is the first on the list of 『Sam-guk-yu-sa』, we can see that it has a strong mythical and strange color. This is undoubtedly caused by narration focused on miraculous efficacy of Buddhism, but it is also caused by the fact that 『Sam-guk-yu-sa』 is a historical document in which culture and thought of a country are piled up. The general chord of 『Sam-guk-yu-sa』 as a cultural accumulation is `the mythical and strange character`, and it has a form of combination of `divinity` and `strangeness`. Its narrative features become clear through these divinity and strangeness, and `human beings` around them. I called this form `the mythical and strange structure` and verified that structure by analyzing 「Kim-hyun-gam-ho」 and 「Cho-shin」. I think that narrative features become strong through a contact between strangeness and human beings rather than divinity, and this is an important indication of the early narrative. The stream of the early narrative like this had been continued for a specified period. We need to have a discussion more minutely on this subject.
