Cha Sik`s 「Bong-Rae Rok (Record of the abode of genii)」 is a Yugi(Travel Record) literature of the Kumkang Mountain(the Diamond Mountain) and is being introduced to academic community for the first time. This work was written in the late sixteen century and is the longest, among all the Yugi (Travel Record) belonging to the same period.
「Bong-Rae Rok(Record of the abode of genii)」 has three particular characteristics its own in Yuki(Travel Record) literature. First, traveling pleasure and transcendental will is fully enhanced by describing the esoteric scenery of in and out of the Kumkang Mountain(the Diamond Mountain). It comes from his focused attention beginning with Buljeng-Dae(Buddha`s vertex Terrace), then Gaesim-Dae(Mind-opening Terrace) through Manpok-Dong(Thousand falls Place) to Sibi-Pok(Twelve Falls).
The second peculiar characteristics is its appeal to reader`s sense of reality. While travling he was writing poetry with Bong Rae Yang Sa-un(1517-1584) and thinking the Kumkang Mountain(the Diamond Mountain) as Fairyland, and was assimilated to it in the process.
The third special characteristics is the various expressions, showing the literary peculiarities of Yugi literature (Travel Record).
In conclusion, Cha Sik`s work 「Bong-Rae Rok (Record of the abode of genii)」 is well reflecting the leisurely self-content feature of a neat man of letters.
