The purpose of the article is to find a new missiological understanding of human beings and Christian missions in the new millennium. As an introductory level, the author examines the negative phenomena of the new millennium era such as money-worshipping mammonism, value-breaking struggles, and pleasure-seeking hedonism.
Then, the author identifies a missiological understanding of human beings who shall be able to encounter and overcome the negative aspects of the phenomena. Human beings in the new millennium shall restore the purity of faith, find the harmony of personality, and take care of neighbors. In the process of finding a new identity of human beings, the author makes use of the frameworks of Carl lung` s psychoanalysis and Emmanuel Levinas`s ethics for others.
Lastly, the author suggests three missiological paradigm shifts such as a shift from the imperial mission to the apostolic mission, a shift from the problem centered mission to the solution centered mission, and a shift from the separate mission to the holistic mission. In other words, the Christian mission in the new millennium, should make efforts to evangelize the gospel of purity, to heal the broken hearts of the people, and to take care of the poor in the world.
